The most probable reason the agent vision fails is incumbents locking users into walled gardens, since agents are fundamentally a rebundling of software that must span the functional silos work actually crosses.

Software today is bundled functionally (Notion/Google Docs, Salesforce, Workday) but real work spans all those domains, so an agent has to bridge them to become a higher-level thing.
