The speculative, cringey tourist activity in crypto is an unavoidable natural property of high-growth markets and has to be accepted as part of the process

You can't have exponential growth and experimentation without speculative activity; finding the 10% that is truly revolutionary requires tolerating a lot of short-term, extractive noise

Speculation is not inherently bad — it provides price discovery and liquidity — but it should be a byproduct of a market whose purpose is genuine ownership and productive building, not the main event.

Homeownership and stock markets both have real primary purposes with speculative layers around them that serve useful functions; the problem in crypto is that speculation has become the focus, which skews public perception of the technology.

The blockchain world has split into two communities — a 'casino' focused on trading and meme coins and a 'computer' movement that treats blockchains as a computing platform — and most outsiders don't realize the computing side exists.
