Hard, complex businesses are more attractive to build than simple ones because solving complexity creates durable competitive moats.
In a hard category there is less competition early, everything you figure out becomes a moat competitors must work equally hard to replicate, and your head start lets you move on to the next problem while they catch up — all of which compounds over time.
